Traveling along the municipal road of Visàn, surrounded by cornfields and clay pits, one arrives at a large arch: it is the lateral entrance of the complex known as Villa Fabris, named after the owners who purchased it at the beginning of the twentieth century.
It likely stands on a Roman settlement: in the main house, in fact, some lachrymatory vases and three urns containing ashes have been found, now preserved in the Archaeological Museum of Vicenza.
The earliest documents we have tell us that in 1437 the owner, the nobleman from Vicenza Francesco Branzo de Loschi, had a canal dug, the Branza channel, to bring the water of the Livergon stream there.
In the sixteenth century, the villa becomes the property of the Bissari family; some documents from that time describe it very similarly to its current state, with a high portico facing south, a large courtyard paved with terracotta, and rows of columns on the sides.
By the end of the seventeenth century, the building and the surrounding fields are purchased by a Vicentine lawyer, Ortensio Zago, a unique figure of a scholar, passionate about hydraulics, archaeology, and architecture. In 1688, he commissioned the construction of the oratory of the Immaculate Conception, which stands beside the west entrance, whose altar is decorated with sculptures from the workshop of Orazio Marinali and a canvas.
On the architrave, there is an apotropaic inscription that reads: "XTVS NOBISCV NOXIA OUAOUA STATE" (Christ is with us, evil forces, stay away!).
