“Forte Corbin” is a fortress of the Great World War built between 1906 and 1914. The fort is placed on a rock spur overlooking the Astico Valley (1110 meters above sea level) and together “Forte Ratti” (located in the right shore of Astico Valley) defended the valley below.
The Fort battery was connected through galleries and trenches at the powder keg and other structures. These net of passages can be allowed at soldiers to move without being seen.
The Fortress was disarmed in the summer 1915, because it is located far from the Front, the guns were taken to other sites and they were changed with wooden gun barrels.
In May 1916 the Fort was occupied from Austrian soldiers Kliemann’s group and it was abandoned 24th June of the same year.
Later it returned at the Italian soldiers but only as observation point through Cimone di Arsiero.
At the end of the War, the Fort was used as training barracks and then it was abandonated still the end of 1920, when the State authorized the exportation of 6 steel domes located on the roof’s battery leaving it open and unsupervised.
