This is a Gothic building constructed between 1451 and 1453 on a pre-existing site dedicated to a hostel for travelers and a previous chapel. The construction retains the presbytery in its original form. The semi-circular vaults and the terracotta decoration at the top of the bell tower are the result of work carried out in the 16th century. The roof and the trusses date back to the 17th century. Inside, traces of 15th-century frescoes are preserved; a triptych featuring Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Bernardino in an adoring attitude, a martyr saint, and Saint Nicholas of Bari. Attached to the church was a small hostel for pilgrims. The church is deconsecrated and is used as a Council Chamber. The spaces have been reorganized and reinvented by Giobatta Meneguzzo, curator of the nearby Casabianca museum.
