"Museo dei Cuchi" is dedicated to the famous birds of our woods and are produced in terracotta and decorated with various colors. They were invented to imitate the sound of birds and over the years have had different meanings.
Their slight breath represents the spirit of life or to ward off evil spirits, to mark the transition from life to death, as a superstitious object, or as a defense used by farmers against crop predators, to become a game of children, or token of love.
Today they are considered as the most vivid representations of artistic and costume exopressures. They come from different nationalities including Latin America, (especially Peru, Brazil and Mexico), Asia (Turkey, India, China and Japan), Europe (England, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Germany, France, Switzerland, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgheria, Greece, Russia, Portugal, Spain, etc., to Italy).
The most important regions are Veneto, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany, Lazio, Umbria, Abruzzo, Campania, Basilicata and Puglia.
Their history is very ancient, in fact the first signs date back to ancient times such as prehistoric, bronze and ancient Greece. However, their importance was rediscovered only at the end of the nineteenth century and at the beginning of this century, especially in the last twenty years.
