A few kilometers from Porto Viro, in the heart of the Po Delta Park, lies the village of Ca' Cappellino. Since 1998, in the former elementary school of the village, beekeepers from the Delta, in collaboration with the Porto Viro municipal administration, have set up a BEEKEEPING CENTER.
Inside, visitors can explore a museum exhibition that takes them into the fascinating and diverse aspects of bee life, as well as getting to know their precious products: honey, propolis, pollen, royal jelly, and wax.
School groups can experience a hands-on educational laboratory with microscope observations, video screenings, wax processing tests, and direct observation of bees in the adjacent apiary.
The honey extraction room (a hygienically suitable space for the extraction, maturation, and packaging of honey) and the sales point have allowed for the unification under a single brand of honey produced in the park, the HONEY OF THE PO DELTA PARK.
The hygiene practices and production regulations imposed on associated beekeepers ensure that the honey marketed by the center provides consumers with a guarantee of purchasing a genuine, virgin, and unprocessed product.
In addition to promoting beekeeping and selling hive products, the center offers professional technical assistance to local beekeepers and anyone else who wants to embark on this activity.
