Villa Carrer, originally owned by the Contarini family, represents the nucleus around which the village of Contarina will develop. During the Italian Risorgimento, the villa, which passed into the hands of the Nicoletti family, became a meeting point for the liberal spirits of the era, both due to its particular border position between the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia and the Papal States, and because of the familial connection of the Nicoletti with the philosopher and blessed priest Antonio Rosmini, around whom figures like Mazzini, Garibaldi, and the Savoia family themselves orbited.
The villa took its current name as a result of the marriage between Gina Nicoletti and Gaetano Carrer.
In the two side barns, pack animals were kept and aromatic herbs were dried (later sold to companies like Bonomelli).
