Chiesa di San Bartolomeo

Piazza Matteotti , Porto Viro (RO) - 45014

The building was constructed in 1726, followed by the bell tower in 1782.

Inside, there is an organ made by Gaetano Callido (Este 1727 - Venice 1813), who worked for the Serenissima and was commissioned in 1776 to refurbish three organs in St. Mark's Basilica. Due to his skill, tireless work, and the prestige his creations brought to the Republic of Venice, in 1779 the Venetian Senate exempted him from customs duties for transporting his instruments beyond the territories of the Republic.

In the church, one can also admire the wooden statuette of the patron saint, executed by the great carver and sculptor Andrea Brustolon (Belluno 1662 - Belluno 1732), a leading figure of Venetian Baroque, and described by Honoré de Balzac as "the Michelangelo of wood."

Outside, near the building, there is still an ancient well head.
