Cappella del Beato Bernardino Tomitano
Via Umberto I, 14 , Oderzo (TV) - 31046
Located in Via Umberto I between two palaces of propriety. Situated in Via Umberto I , this church was born as the Oratory of Tomitano, a noble family of Feltre origin, that came to Oderzo at the beginning of 1500 to carry out reclamation works of the river Monticano. The Tomitano built the Oratory between two palaces of propriety, at the end of 1600. Firstly they dedicated this Oratory to the saint Bernardino, a preaching frier. In 1682, the Church was embellished with a distinguished Relic of Saint Julian the Martyr. It remained the propriety of the Tomitano until 1903, when it was left with a will to the hospital of Oderzo, from which it was alienated and later transformed into a workshop. The altar, the statue of the blessed and the furnishings were transported to the hospital. During 1939, under the propriety of the descendants of Tomitano, the church was restored: ceilings, windows , frames, floor and portal were redone. The hospital also returned the Altar, the marble statue of Carrara and the suppellettile along with four paintings on canvas, one of which represents the Blessed Bernardino. After the little fire that affected the church the evening of the first November 2008, a wall was blackened and the copy of a painting depicting St. Clare was destroyed.
