Cimitero Militare Inglese
Piazza Tigli , Tezze di Vazzola (TV) - 31028
The British military cemetery, which houses the remains of 356 British soldiers, was built in 1920, when the Italian state granted to the UK Government a place to bury and commemorate the men killed during the decisive operations of the Final Battle in October 1918, when the British regiments joined the Italian ones. There is a large war stone in the meadow. Behind it the white tombstones have been neatly arranged showing the personal details of the fallen, the dates of birth and death and the regiment to which he belonged. The tombstones, all alike, were intended to remember all the fallen individually and without distinction of rank, race or religious faith. Finally, near the western enclosure a large cross in Chiampo stone rises into the sky on which a bronze sword has been placed.
