The Fountain was donated by the Craftsmen Association to the Municipality of Schio in 1999, on the occasion of the inauguration of via dell'Artigianato. The intention was to give added and different value to an area designated for production, such as the industrial zone of Schio, combining water, a cultural/business symbol of Schio, with Vicenza stone, a symbol of Vicentine Palladianism in the world.
The fountain represents the slowed flow of water and depicts the concept of conservation, creating a dripping effect (for this reason it is called “Fountain of Dripping”), thus interpreting the importance of water, in all its aspects, for Schio and its territory, which has supported its craft and industrial development throughout history.
The work was created by the Company Casalin, with the project by the architect Agostino Miotto, to participate in the third edition of Pietrarredo, which took place in 1996; a biennial event held in Lonigo, organized by the local Assoartigiani, aiming to promote the craftsmanship in working with Vicenza stone, in collaboration with the design of architects. Each edition is marked by a theme: that of the third edition was titled "The stone of Vicenza in urban furnishing".
It was inaugurated in 1999.
