The Emergency Room is a Service aimed at the rapid diagnosis and treatment of medical and traumatic emergencies. It primarily addresses patients suffering acutely from illnesses and injuries that pose a danger to their physical and mental integrity or to their very life.
The excessive and inappropriate use of the Emergency Room has a direct consequence of progressively increasing average waiting times.
Therefore, whenever the symptoms experienced are compatible with a preliminary medical visit, it is advisable to consult the General Practitioner or the Continuity of Care Physician, avoiding the Emergency Room.
Using the Emergency Room for non-urgent reasons should be absolutely avoided.
Access to the Emergency Room Clinics is determined based on the severity of the clinical condition and not on a first-come, first-served basis.
Services performed by the Emergency Room that do not have an urgent nature are subject to ticket payment.
In order to keep waiting times for urgent patients at risk of life, disability, or severe suffering as short as possible, a TRIAGE function (selection) has been activated, entrusted to specifically trained nursing staff, according to international standards, for the rapid recognition of critical patients.
