The path begins in the historic center of Piovene Rocchette (it is advisable to park at "Birreria Vecia", on via Levrena).
From here, you climb via a staircase that leads to the "Fontanon" and then proceed towards the Shrine of Our Lady of the Angel.
The itinerary mostly unfolds within the woods, and if you are lucky, you may encounter various wild animals.
The walk takes about 2.5-3 hours, reaching the Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Summano and ends with the Cross at the summit at an altitude of 1296 m.
The Girolimini Trail can be walked all year round, and the views during the ascent of Mount Summano are unique; on clearer days, it is possible to see the Euganean Hills and even the sea.
The mule track that leads to the summit of Mount Summano has ancient origins: it is said to have started as a pilgrimage route. The "Girolimini Trail," on the other hand, originates around 1452, the year when the small monastery on Mount Summano was entrusted to the friars of St. Jerome.
Length of the route: 6 km (12 km total)
Elevation gain: 950 m
Difficulty: medium/easy. The path is well passable and long. Some sections are strenuous, and suitable equipment is highly recommended.
