The small sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes was built starting in the early years of the 1900s, precisely in 1908, coinciding with the fiftieth anniversary of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin in Lourdes (from February 11 to July 16 in the distant 1858).
These events had such a wide echo and a profound impact on the faithful that the devotion to Mary became even more entrenched in the community of Piovene Rocchette, already particularly linked to the Mother of Christ.
The church was built under the guidance of the then pastor, Don Luigi Rigoni, who greatly valued its realization, to the extent of providing the land and considerable family funds.
A few years later, in 1911, the structure was already completed.
However, the works did not stop in the following years; in fact, in 1915, the main facade was enriched with a cross at the top and two statues on either side of the pavilion.
The final touch ten years later: in 1924-25, the bell tower was built to house a bell weighing 103 kilograms. The current extremely well-maintained appearance dates back to 2008 when Pastor Don Danilo Fantinato began the meticulous restoration.
As can be seen, the structure presents itself as a pearl embedded among the houses. Although its plan does not have particular dimensions, the vertical development conveys the desire of men to connect with the sky.
