Since the year 1000, it belonged to the Maltraversi family, where in 1223 Alberto dei Maltraversi moved to retire to a hermitic life. In 1240 the castle was ceded to Ezzelino III the Tyrant and subsequently returned to the previous family in 1260.
Their destruction is likely due to the struggle between the Padovans and Scaligers in 1314 when the castles of Thiene, Schio, and Santorso were also damaged.
Positioned at 375 meters above sea level, the castle of Meda has always dominated the valley. For this reason, it was also used during World War I as a position for cannons and machine guns. All visible environments are still present, on three floors located beneath the castle.
Today, the castle has become the hermitage of the Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saints James and John. In front of the building, a memorial dedicated to the fallen of World War I and World War II has also been placed.
