The church originally depended on the parish of Caltrano and was dedicated to St. Christopher; it was perhaps the influence of the abbey of Nonantola, which had holdings in Cogollo, that led to the addition of a second patron, St. Sinesius, whose relics are still preserved by the Nonantolani until today. At the end of the 15th century, the church was expanded and consecrated. In 1717, a large choir, wider than the church itself, was added, which in 1912 was replaced by a majestic temple in Corinthian style. It was inaugurated in 1927 and consecrated in 1978. It was renovated about ten years ago.
