The settlement of Mosson boasts a history of over a thousand years: the name Muxone appears in an official document in 983; it later became Musone and finally Mosson; it could derive from the Latin mons, or from the Cimbrian of the Seven Municipalities moss, swamp. In the 12th century, there was a chapel.
When Gregorio Barbarigo passed through to visit Cogollo on a pastoral visit in 1665, he ordered that a church be built on the site: it was constructed in 1676, dedicated to Saint Cecilia. As the population grew, in 1896 it was decided to build a new church, blessed on June 11, 1904, which became the seat of an autonomous curacy in 1922, with territory separated from Cogollo and Caltrano. At the same time, restoration work began, completed in 1925. On June 5, 1951, the church of Mosson became a parish with the title of Saint Gaetano Thiene. The church has recently undergone various completion and beautification works (frescoes, vestibule, organ, presbytery, and font) in view of the consecration on September 12, 2010. The parish church of Mosson has an altarpiece from the Venetian school created between the end of the 17th and the beginning of the 18th century depicting Saint Cecilia surrounded by angels and illuminated by divine light, with Saint Anthony of Padua and Saint Gaetano Thiene on the sides. In 1946, the nave was adorned with frescoes executed by the Thienese Giovanni Caprin. In 2003, a new vestibule was created, along with a new choir and organ stand with a balustrade decorated with six oil panels by the painter Andrea Paganin from Asiago. The church is being equipped with a new altar, featuring a Resurrection in bas-relief, the ambo with the Miraculous Catch, the presidential chair with the Delivery of the Keys to Peter, and the baptismal font with the sculpture of the Baptism of Jesus created by the Cremonese sculptor Giovanni Solci.
