Villa Canal Manfredini
Via Crociata 91 , Campoverardo - 30030
The villa, also known as "Il palazzon," was built by the Venetian family Canal of the same name. The first document attesting to the existence of the estate is the will of Zuanne Canal from 1594, through which the property was passed on to his son Antonio, who enlarged the villa and built the barchessa in the following years. In the 1800s, the entirety of the Canal assets passed to Marchese Federico Manfredini, an officer of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, who completely renovated the residential complex. In the 1900s, the villa became the property of the Menegazzo family, and during World War I, the entire complex was first used as a military command and then as a hospital. The Palazzon was significantly affected by the war period, as four arches collapsed during that time, along with the rustic wing and the small church. Today, only four of the original nine arches can be admired. However, thanks to the restoration in 2004, the villa is now in good condition.
