Villa Foscarini Rossi stands between Venice and Padua, along the Brenta River and a short walk from Villa Pisani. It is a 17th-century architectural complex built by important architects such as Vincenzo Scamozzi and Giuseppe Jappelli and skillfully decorated by likewise illustrious painters as Pietro Liberi and Domenico de Bruni.
In the magnificent Salone degli Affreschi of the Foresteria, it is still possible to admire a ballroom entirely decorated with frescoes dating back to 1652.
Currently, the halls of the villa house the Footwear Museum, articulated on the two floors of the manor house. The Villa Foscarini Rossi Footwear Museum is a business museum: it holds inside the production of Rossimoda, a company active since the 1950s and still operating in the town of Vigonza. Through a look at the rich collection on display (1350 pieces on display, out of a total of 18,000 shoes preserved), a trace of Rossimoda's collaboration with high-fashion brands, a history of footwear design, fashion and costume can be reconstructed.
During the guided tour, you can also stroll through the verdant garden among centuries-old trees. The park was originally kept "a brolo," which means cultivated as a vegetable garden and orchard, but in the 19th century it was renovated by architect Jappelli according to Romantic taste.
Duration of the visit: about 1h 30 min
