The current structure of the villa is the result of eighteenth-century interventions; to witness it is a mosaic on the floor of the central hall on the ground floor that flanks, to the coat of arms of the Contarini family, the year 1723. Therefore, the construction of the singular façade would also date back to this era. The latter is characterized by an anomalous tripartition, in which the central area, intended to accommodate all the openings, is framed by two full wall walls, each limited by a pair of ashlar pilasters.
The central portion of the front, with the exception of the attic, houses three openings per level: on the main floor, above the entrance door with windows side by side, there are therefore three other doors, of which the largest is placed in the middle. All are defined by an arched profile with key masks and distinguished by an independent terrace, protected by a stone parapet resting on shelves. An exception to the scheme is the attic, where only lights appear on the sides, while to close the axis of central symmetry, is a mirror that shows again the coat of arms of the Contarini, this time painted in fresco.
Although the building has been bound since 1954, its last historical events have been quite animated. In the early sixties, the urgency of a renovation became the occasion for a change of use that, on the basis, perhaps, of what had been achieved at Villa Condulmer. After some difficulties, in 1963 the building became the headquarters of the Ca' d'Oro hotel and the conversion brought with it a tampering with the western front, where a concrete superstructure was added that completely erased the existing frescoes.
What can be admired today is the result of a further restoration that has partly returned the building to its original appearance, despite the addition of an external glass staircase with steel uprights.
