Villa Pretto-Cassanello

Villa Pretto-Cassanello is now the headquarters of the Municipality of Cornedo Vicentino; it originally belonged to Giuseppe Alberto Pretto, the son of a Cornedo native who emigrated to Genoa, where he became wealthy, and his wife, the Genoese of noble family, Maria Cassanello. The villa is the result of a profound renovation of an ancient house belonging to the Gonzati family, along with its associated brolo, carried out around 1920. The spectacular beauty and richness of the garden, now a public municipal park, is mainly due to the passion for trees and flowers of the former owners. The tragic extinction of the family, following the premature death of both children of the Pretto-Cassanello couple, eventually led, after various events, to the purchase of the entire property by the Municipality in 1970.
