For the Thiene people, it is known as "Ceseta Rossa" due to its exposed brick masonry. The church was probably built in 1476 and is dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary.
It can be considered a true gem of Gothic art: the style recalls that of the nearby Castle, with evident phases of transition from Gothic to Lombard. Internally, the small church has a rectangular plan with a double ribbed vault, while the apse is pentagonal with a lunette vault.
It has a single altar, above which is a splendid stone polyptych, divided into three panels, separated by small pilasters with rich friezes, depicting the Virgin with Saint Francis and Saint Bartholomew. The upper part ends in a curved pediment, on which is depicted the figure of God the Father surrounded by cherubim.
The small church contains numerous testimonies and the remains of some illustrious figures from the families of Da Porto and Colleoni; on the left side, the funerary monument of Teresa Colleoni has been placed. The work, done by the Ravenna sculptor Gaetano Monti in 1844, was judged one of the best of the modern age and awarded at the Brera exhibition.
