Founded near an ancient castle built in the 10th century for defense against the Hungarians, the church of Santa Maria was destroyed in 1246 by the troops of Ezzelino da Romano. By 1303, it was already rebuilt and noted as a parish in the "Rationes decimarum." The current church was consecrated on January 27, 1928.
