The name Robaan comes from the ancient Cimbrian language Robàan, which means Roana.
The facility was created to meet the needs of numerous skating sports clubs, both on track and ice, also thanks to the successes and medals won by Roana skater Enrico Fabris during the 2006 Olympics.
After a period of stagnation, the stadium was inaugurated on August 7, 2014, thanks to the collaboration between the Municipality of Roana and Asiago.
In June 2016, it hosted the World Inline Hockey Championships together with the facility in Asiago and is still used for major events in both skating and other types.
