Curiosity: the ancient name of the Bacchiglione River was "Edrone," as mentioned in the writings of Pliny the Elder in the 1st century A.D.
The current name may derive from the dialectal "," meaning "to rumble, to chatter continuously," perhaps because the gurgling produced by the water during floods is similar to human chatter.
